When assisting the elderly, ECPs can do a lot to help enhance their visual experience and improve the quality of life by providing optical solutions to their subjective complaints. The process begins by understanding the milestones and trip stones these patients have endured over time. And a little empathy goes a long way. This course also examines the top eye disorders the aging eye experiences and what we can offer to ease their visual discomfort.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Define functional vision and relate to the loss of functional vision in the elderly
List the top 4 common eye disorders and the affects they have on an aging eye
Identify optical products useful in cutting glare, improving contrast, adding light, and eliminating marginal astigmatic errors in lens designs
