This interactive learning lab focuses on empowering primary care ODs with knowledge and skills to easily detect, manage, and provide practical solutions for the most prevalent and often overlooked binocular vision issues. The primary objective is to offer ODs valuable tips and tools that can be integrated into their routine patient care, enabling them to identify and help a broader range of patients who may be experiencing binocular vision problems.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Develop a solid grasp of the neurological processes underlying binocular vision, including the role of the brain in visual fusion and stereopsis
Acquire the ability to conduct comprehensive clinical assessments for binocular vision, covering aspects such as eye movement, alignment, convergence, divergence, and accommodative function.
Learn to diagnose common binocular vision disorders and differentiate between various conditions, enhancing accuracy in identifying visual anomalies.
Customize individualized treatment strategies for binocular vision issues, including therapeutic lens prescribing, vision therapy, prismatic correction, and other interventions
Develop communication skills to educate patients about their binocular vision issues, treatment options, and expected outcomes, fostering patient engagement and compliance
Apply practical skills through hands-on exercises, case studies, and interactive simulations, enabling participants to apply their knowledge effectively in clinical settings
